Common Problems With Keywords and Potential Actions to Take

Image
Since I have been running my Google Ads campaign for a few weeks now, I have noticed some problems with my keywords.  One problem I had was that I wasn't getting much traffic on my website. After digging into the problem a little bit, I realized that I didn't have enough keywords in my ad group. This was a pretty simple fix, I just added more keywords that related to my business. Because of this problem, I learned that it is important to have many keywords because it allows for more avenues people can take to visit your website which is the goal.  Another problem that I had was that some of my keywords were too broad. This led to a low click through rate. This was a simple fix as well, I just changed my keywords a little bit to make them more focused and related to my business.  This week I learned that there are multiple problems you could run into relating to keywords in Google Ads. Common keyword problems include being irrelevant, too broad, too specific, too co...

Cool Things About Google Analytics

Image
This week I learned about a completely new tool called Google Analytics. I had a lot of fun setting this up and learning about how I can use it to help my web business.  Google Analytics is a really cool tool that allows you as a web business owner to see where in the world people are accessing your website, what pages most people gravitate to, and how much time they spend on each page.  I thought it was really cool that I could see where in the world people were accessing my website. I tried an experiment with a few members of my family who are in different states. I asked them to go onto my website while I was on Google Analytics so I could see if the data was accurate and timely. I learned that you could see little dots on a map of the world that represent someone in a specific state viewing my website.  I also learned that you could see on Google Analytics what pages of your website people go to the most and how long they stay there. This is really helpful when...

Google Ads and Ad Groups

Image
This week I learned so much about Google Ads and the importance of having multiple ad groups in one campaign.  When creating your google ads, you need to first have a good hook, something that grabs the attention of the viewer. Your ad should be short and sweet and to the point. If it is too long and unclear, the viewer will lose interest before clicking on your ad and visiting your website. Don't drive them away. Your ad should not be deceitful. Your ad should convey your type of business and what you are hoping to accomplish, don't just try and get people to visit your website by telling lies or giving half-truths. Your ad should also have a call to action, something you want the viewer to do. Some examples of this could be "buy now" or "click here to learn more".  I also learned that it is important to have multiple ad groups in one campaign because it allows you to focus your keywords on different, more specific areas of your website. One example of th...

Things to Know About Keywords

Image
This week I learned a lot about keywords and how to use them to your advantage when starting on google ads. Let's get into it. The first thing I learned about keywords in relation to starting a google ads campaign is that you shouldn't use any insider buzz words. This means you shouldn't use any words that only professionals in that field would know to search. Instead, you should use common day-to-day words related to your field. You should also use words that people in your target market use. Another thing I learned about keywords is that you should make sure they convey the right intent. The right intent could be transactional, informational, commercial, or navigational. I also learned that you shouldn't make your keywords too broad or too specific. If they are too broad, your click through rate score will suffer and you risk getting the wrong target audience on your website. If they are too specific, you won't get as many searches or clicks.  I hope the lessons...
